Cyril Williams

Wednesday.

Cyril Williams, 83, was found clothed, face-down in his Queens Village bed on Monday, sources said.

His arms and legs were bound and tape had been placed over his mouth. An autopsy determined he had been strangled.

"To die alone in that house is very upsetting," said neighbor Olinda Fonseca, 52.

Investigators believe the motive was robbery, even though Williams was not wealthy.

Williams' court-appointed caretaker showed up for work about 8:45 a.m. Monday and called police when she noticed someone had broken a window in the 216th Street home.

The elderly man had recently been hospitalized for demtenia at North Shore University Hospital after he called police claiming that his wife was missing, neighbors said. The wife, Linda, had died more than a year ago.

Williams was a bit of his recluse, but had opened his home to some workers recently.

Cy,(as he was affectionatly known served with the fabulous "Red Ball Express "battallion " during WW2.
