Pheobe was the Negro girl, savedGeorge Washington from certai death in 1776. Pheobe used to wait on Washington's table at her father's tavern. Thomas Hickey, an Irish man, a British Agent, and a member of Washington's bodyguard, made love to Pheobe,and tried to draw her into a plot to kill Washington. But when given a dish of poisened peas to serve washington not to eat it.The peas were thrown into the yard. the chickens ate them and fell dead, Hickey was hanged and pheobe rewarded.
