Sweetwater (Nathaniel) Clifton was one of three person's who became the first African-Americans to break into the N.B.A. in the early 1950's. Nathaniel was drafted by the New York Knickerbockers, he originally played semi-professional ball with the universally knowned "Harlem Globetrotters.
"Nate" had a limited, but skillfully productive career in the N.B.A.(he played6 or 7 years)
"Nate" opened the door for us and we are eternally grateful to him for doing so.
