Fannie Lou Hamer

Fannie Lou Hamer was born in 1917 and died in 1977.

Fannie was a leader of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, which challenged the right of the all white delegates of the Democratic Party to represent the state , since African Americans had been excluded from choosing them.
